The picture above represents the long road that is the journey all new authors have to make from conception to inception to delivery.

The road you see is long and straight, but the reality is somewhat different. Typically, the new author comes across dangerous, hairpin bends,

unexpected diversions and unwanted 'No Entry' signs. Eventual success is never guaranteed and often is never achieved no matter how

good the marketing.

My personal take on this potentially depressing picture is that, as much as I would like to be a best selling author, the truth is that, first and

foremost, I write for myself with the hope rather than expectation that others like my style, genre and content enough to buy and read my

work.

For many book lovers Kindle is emerging as the future as evinced by ever-growing sales of both e-book readers and downloads. Book

prices are very competitive, easy to purchase and offer much fairer royalty rates to the author. That is why I have chosen this way of

publishing my books. I do hope you will help me along the road.

I am currently taking time out from writing, preferring to see what difference this website and other initiatives make to future sales and

contacts with the public and fellow authors, with whom I would be pleased to chat on Twitter. I remain optimistic, however, and will surely

apply my mind to book 5 before too long.
